Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor demands exceptional musicians. From soaring soprano solos to thrilling choral writing, every performer has a vital role in bringing this monumental work to life. Joining conductor David Hill and the acclaimed Britten Sinfonia is a cast of internationally renowned soloists, each with an impressive career on the world’s leading stages.
One of Britain’s most respected choral conductors, David Hill MBE has spent decades working with some of the world’s finest choirs and orchestras. Alongside his role as Musical Director of The Bach Choir, he’s worked with Kings College Choir, Yale Schola Cantorum and many more. He previously served as Chief Conductor of the BBC Singers for ten years and has won both Grammy and Gramophone Awards for his recordings.

Described by The Telegraph as an orchestra that “ought to enjoy national treasure status”, Britten Sinfonia has built an international reputation for performances of exceptional precision and imagination. Regular collaborators in the classical and choral world include Sir Simon Rattle, Thomas Adès and Sir Mark Elder, and they’ve also recently collaborated with world-renowned musicians Jacob Collier and Chris Thile.
Internationally acclaimed soprano Elizabeth Watts is one of Britain’s leading Mozart interpreters. A former BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist and recipient of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Young Artist Award, she’s worked with conductors like Sir Roger Norrington, Sir Andrew Davis and Daniel Harding. Our recent collaborations have included the St Matthew Passion, Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony and Britten’s War Requiem – those who were there to witness those will know exactly what to expect from this sensational soprano. Mozart has remained at the heart of her career so her interpretation of the Et incarnatus est will certainly be a moment to savour.
We’ve recently sung alongside Katherine Gregory at our Into Spring concert series and in our BBC Radio 3 performance of Duruflé’s Requiem – she also makes regular solo appearances in prestigious venues around the country, including Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and King’s College Chapel.
Tenor Sam Furness has appeared with many of Europe’s foremost orchestras and conductors, including Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Sir Simon Rattle and Masaaki Suzuki. The Guardian recently said that he had ‘all the makings of a star’, which he’s proved in recent collaborations with The Bach Choir including our recent St Matthew Passion performance in March 2026.. He is particularly admired for his interpretations of Bach, Handel and Mozart, with performances including the BBC Proms.
Winner of the Kathleen Ferrier Award, James Platt has performed at the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne Festival Opera and English National Opera. His concert appearances have seen him collaborate with conductors including Sir Antonio Pappano and Sir Mark Elder.
From the monumental choruses of the Gloria to the intimate Et incarnatus est, this outstanding team of musicians will reveal every facet of Mozart’s extraordinary Great Mass in C minor.
