Delius’ Mountain Music

Andrew J Boyle is a renowned expert on Delius – he’s even got a PhD in the composer and his works. In his book, Delius and Norway, the author and podcaster looks at the vital role that this beautiful country came to play in Delius’ works.

Ahead of performing Delius’ The Song of the High Hills at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on Thursday 8 May, Andrew J Boyle made the below fantastic video for us explaining the work and showing why nature is such a key part of this piece which, in Delius’ own words, expresses ‘the joy and rapture felt in the High Mountains’. Andrew’s book received acclaim from BBC Music Magazine amongst others – you can find out more about it and buy it here.
