The St Matthew Passion is a work which means so much to so many people. But what it means to everyone is subjective and unique. Some of our singers and audiences keep coming back to it because of the gorgeous and memorable melodies within it, whilst others value their spiritual connection to the work. We asked some of our singers and David Hill to tell finish a simple sentence beginning with “to me, the St Matthew Passion is”. Here are their reponses…
