4 reasons to Come and Sing with Sir John Rutter

There are a wealth of reasons to join Sir John Rutter at our next Come and Sing event – but we’ve boiled it down to just 4 to save you time!

1. To learn from a choral legend

Our President Sir John Rutter’s list of accomplishments is enormous. He’s a Fellow of the Ivors Academy, his music was used at the Coronation of King Charles III and his record and ticket sales speak for themselves. Our Come and Sing day with John is an opportunity to learn from “the most gifted composer of his generation” according to our previous Musical Director, David Willcocks).

2. To hear new John Rutter material before anyone else

In a recent video, John mentioned that we’ll be singing some new works of his which have never been performed before. If you’re a Rutter fan, this is a very special opportunity to hear these works in an entirely new setting.

3. To sing with Melanie Marshall

John Rutter isn’t coming alone. For this very special singing day, to help sing his Cycle of Spirituals he’s bringing Melanie Marshall. John composed the work specifically for her, so there’s no-one better to sing it with. In addition to that, she’s starred in musicals like Porgy and Bess, Fame and Kiss Me Kate, and she’s even featured on the soundtracks to Hollywood films like Jurassic Park: Rebirth and Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning.

4 . For the pure joy of it

Rutter’s cycle of spirituals Feel The Spirit was premiered at Carnegie Hall in 2001. Gramophone called them “luscious arrangements which bear repeated listening: orchestrally colourful and playfully witty”. They’re vibrant, heartfelt and irresistibly joyful – and we could all use more joy!

Don’t delay – our recent Come and Sing events with John Rutter have all sold out, so don’t delay – book the last tickets below.
