What made you want to sing in The Bach Choir?
I wanted to join a choir that would be musically challenging, with great opportunities to sing in public and alongside exceptional musicians, singers and directors: The Bach Choir seemed to be the perfect fit! I’m also a huge fan of John Rutter’s music and the thought of singing his repertoire in a choir where he is the President really made me dream!
What’s your favourite thing about singing in The Bach Choir?
I love that everyone is so friendly, I feel like I’ve found a new artistic family and made so many new friends. It gives me something to look forward to every week. And all the opportunities to sing in different projects and doing concerts in such amazing venues is just a dream come true!
What were your childhood experiences of singing?
I used to sing for many years in the Children’s Choir Sotto Voce in Paris directed by Scott Alan Prouty. Sotto Voce was like the children’s version of The Bach Choir, and I was missing it so much these last few years, that’s why I’m so happy to have found The Bach Choir.
What’s your favourite piece of choral or classical music?
What’s amazing with The Bach Choir is that I’m discovering so many new things. I think my favourite pieces of choral music would be the Fauré and Mozart Requiems. I was so lucky to sing both on my first year at The Bach Choir. And for just classical music, I’d say the Chopin Nocturnes, I love them!
What advice would you give to potential new members of The Bach Choir?
Don’t hesitate to join The Bach Choir, you won’t regret it!! And once you’re in, sign up to as many concerts and projects as you can, it’s always so amazing to be a part of the Choir for all these opportunities and it’s really worth it!
