Every summer, our singers take a break from The Bach Choir from roughly July to early September. Sometimes they sing with other choirs, but others take a full break from singing altogether until our first rehearsal back – as we’re an amateur choir, our singers aren’t paid and so often do other jobs.
The first rehearsal back, then, will usually be a gentle affair where our singers settle back in – not this time, though! In our very first rehearsal back, David Hill challenged our singers to sing an excerpt from Mozart’s Great Mass, where a great number of the choir had never sung the work before. How did they get on?
