Supporting The Bach Choir

As one of the world's leading independent large choruses, The Bach Choir aims to inspire singers and audiences with the magnificence, beauty and emotional power of choral music through performances and recordings.

We are committed to promoting our own concerts and contributing to the cultural future by commissioning and performing new works: but these enterprises are expensive.

Most people do not realise that it costs the choir around £40,000 to put on a single performance of a major choral work, including hire of the Hall, orchestra and top class soloists. Even with a full house, ticket and programme sales will not cover the costs. For a less popular work - and we must not restrict ourselves to 'crowd-pullers' - we stand to lose £10 - 20,000 or more.

Singing members themselves pay the choir's basic running and rehearsal costs, but we depend on our supporters to help us maintain our financial independence - and thus our artistic freedom.
